Dr. John Daly (Ph.D.) is the Research & Innovation manager at Dairymaster. He joined Dairymaster in 2009, specialising in the technical and commercial development of milk cooling and heat recovery technologies. More recently he has led the redevelopment of the Dairymaster herd management and animal data platforms.

John has been closely involved in Dairymaster research collaboration with Irish research centres such as UCD and the Lyons Estate farm for animal health research, Vistamilk and Teagasc for milking, milk cooling and animal health research and also with LERO and the University of Limerick for the application of artificial intelligence to providing actionable insights in the management of dairy farms. He has also conducted research with the University of Kentucky and Penn State University in the USA, as well as collaborative research projects under the European FP7 framework. John is a member of CEN technical committees drafting and revising EN and ISO standards applicable to dairy farm equipment. He has also been recently appointed to the International Dairy Federation action team on Milking Equipment and Methods, AT-FM-2.

After growing up on a dairy farm in county Cavan, John attended the University of Limerick from where he graduated with a first class honours degree in Mechanical Engineering as well as a PhD in the area of design optimisation, fluid dynamics and computational modelling. He has published several refereed papers and over 50 patent applications. He has completed leadership development programs with Enterprise Ireland and the Irish Management Institute.
