John is the co-founder and CTO at Action Point and has been working in the software industry for over 15 years. He has deep technical expertise on software architecture, development and management and is the driving force behind Action Point’s team of talented developers. John graduated from the University of Limerick in 2001 with a First Class Honours BSc in Computer Systems. He is one of only 3 people in the University’s history to graduate with a perfect score of 4.0. A visionary strategist and technologist, John’s core competencies focus on helping companies transform their processes and systems via a deep dive of their business goals and strategy. This approach allows him to guide his team to devise a software solution that ‘goes beyond the code’ to provide measurable business value.

Action Point is celebrating over 10 years in business, a period of time which has seen the company grow for a 2 man start up to a 70 plus strong team of managed IT and software development service professionals.

This phenomenal growth can be attributed in no small part to a commitment to and a focus on Innovation. Two areas in particular where Action Point has harnessed the power of true Innovation have been in Agile Development and embracing the brave new world of the Internet of Things.

In 2010 Action Point made a long term strategic commitment to Agile Development. This involved a significant investment in technical staff training but also perhaps more importantly it required a mind-set change to be brought about both internally and also with Action Points clients. 6 years later this commitment to and investment in Innovation has yielded a rock solid tried and trusted development process that delivers not only the highest possible quality software, on time and on budget but which sets Action Point clearly apart from its competition.

In the more recent 12 months, Action Point has invested in Innovation by upskilling and forging industry partnerships to enable it to become an end to end Internet of Things Systems Integrator, a service which is very rare yet highly valuable in the rapidly growing and exciting IoT marketplace.
